Lush Family Film:
Your professional photo and or film sessions shouldn’t be based off of what your peers are doing or what social media tells you is cute.
It should be rooted in your own family’s story. Your own memories. I’m hearing that this new social media generation is getting to the season of life where their children are teens etc and wish they had more photos capturing their everyday.
They didn’t realize social media was influencing their decisions about their photo sessions. My generation chose to be bodily conscious and sought after what we saw on the gram. Things like Santa photos and sunflower fields. When none of that told the story of our family. None of this captured our Saturday’s snuggling, baking, fishing, or reading.
We don’t get this time back.
Throughout life we have a handful of absolutely life changing exhilarating moments. Those should 100% be on videos / photos.
There is nothing better than being able to relive those moments over and over.
Life isn’t guaranteed. We just don’t know when our last moments when our loved ones will be.
Unfortunately, I tend to see the value of video take place after a death. I’ll see someone say “I wish had more videos of him or her” or “I’m so glad I have these videos. I can hear their voice or see their facial expressions taking place”
Is there any way we can appreciate this before things happen? Can we realize the value and live intentionally enough to make sure the photos and videos are captured for the future.

Sometimes in my job I get the most perfect scenario. Not only do I get to capture the stage of life that is one of the most pivotal in our lifetime, but I also am blessed to capture people I have deeply connected with. Ashlea and Matt, owners of Herban Market in Franklin, TN have become good friends of mine. I have been a crunch mom for 8 years - before it was cool to be one - Haha! Their little store has become a haven for me and my family. Before they opened, we could only get the quality of food we eat at the Franklin Farmer's Market. But now, if we run out between Saturday's, we can go to Herban and grab eggs or local meat, any local vegetable etc. The best part is, its small and not large like a walmart or whole foods. So, its convenient to run in really quick and grab something. I am Keto and my family is Keto/Paleo (we go back and forth) and so we don't have many restaurants in the area to eat at. Even when we find something really great, they almost always fry in soy/canola oil and thats a big fat no for me and my family. We don't even feel well on this one item alone. I know that I can go into herban for a round of tacos, or a great huge amazing salad. The entire story is GMO Free, all organic, mostly local, soy free - they filter out the bad for you. They have truly given my family the most amazing gift - convenience in a natural lifestyle - which is hard to come by.Times are for sure changing. And even better, Herban Market is EXPANDING to more than double their current space. They will have a full restaurant and I CANNOT WAIT.I suppose I should get back to my original point....I was SO blessed to capture someone I have this deep personal relationship with. I have truly enjoyed working with Jacky, capturing her pregnancy and her newborn baby girl, Harper! We had so much fun and I just love making a session personable, using the home's environment to tie in the uniqueness of that particular family. Since Jacky is a singer, she had lots of creative aspects to her home that matched this part of her heart. I know she will treasure these images for years to come!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE to change up my work and step out of my comfort zone? The last two maternity sessions have done this for me and it makes my heart SING so loudly! Wait till you see the next maternity I will be blogging! GAH. Meanwhile, for Lillian we went into the urban city environment in downtown Franklin. The weather was so perfect. When I arrived, I saw streets blocked off. Which initially worried me. But then, I noticed it created SO much less traffic, both foot traffic and cars! Why was the street blocked do you ask? Well, none other than Brad Paisley was singing about 200 feet from where we were shooting. Thank you so much, Mr. Paisley! I had such fun and cant wait to meet her sweet baby girl.

Nashville Child Photographer | Addison 18 Months
Addison is growing so fast, we had a blast letting her play in the water! She may not be a baby any longer, but I can still some baby-isms left. I hope she keeps a few for just a bit. Babies don't keep! I designed her whole session. I love coming up with a vision and seeing it come to life. At the end, she gave us some of those sweet moments, sucking her thumb. Those moments, will be missed!

Rowan is 9 months old. He is SO laid back, smiley, sweet, and snuggly! He, like his brothers, is VERY active! Crawling early and getting into everything! This family of boys has a reputation for keeping me on my toes. I love it though, I know at 12 months, I will surely have tons of blurry ones from chasing him! HA! I cant wait to see him again!

Miles was awake all night the night before his shoot, and luckily that meant he was super tired for his session with me! (sorry mom and dad!). I loved all his hair and he has the most angelic little face! We captured him amazingly, and I love this new little family!

Rowan is sweet as can be! with cheeks that make you wanna eat a baby! We had such fun capturing this fast developing little boy's six month session. He's already working on crawling. He's just trying to keep up with his two big brothers, Im sure! His mommy brought in some rustic toys and they were a perfect addition to the images. Its so nice to add in subtle props that don't overpower the image. In this case, it really brought out the vintage feel!

Hallie is an absolutely beautiful baby girl. She has the most precious little features. I loved working with this family in their home. Lifestyle sessions are so sweet and calm. The parents have a decently easy morning getting ready, and don't have to leave the home. I like having a lot of images of mom, dad, and baby together - to show their connection and the emotion that comes with a newborn. I know these parents will cherish these photos for a lifetime.

The Conner's just moved here from California. Im so honored they hired me to capture their family this year. We did a lot of prep work for this session and it turned out amazingly! The days leading up to the shoot made us nervous. It was supposed to rain - which it did. But it was going to be very cloudy the day of the session and the main rain threat was that afternoon, so we spontaneously moved the session from sunset to 10 am and boy did it turn out! At the end, a storm began to blow in and we got some really fun shots with leaves blowing all around. It was truly magical. However, that was the last time we had rain and now we are in a drought! So crazy!

I have to pinch myself daily. I mean, how did I get this blessed? This job is THE BEST JOB EVER. Its not always easy, the shooting and editing are always the fun parts, of course! Penelope is already a nature girl. I loved photographing her and her parents in my field - of golden rods. What a dream! At the end of a session, I love snapping some nursing photos! I always give the mom the option - If I can post them or not. If she wants, she can just keep them all to herself. Time is fleeting.

Ive been photographing this crew now for nearly THREE years. So were fairly comfortable with one another. When I threw out the insane idea of shooting at the fair, Christine was all over it. So, we did! and it was such a blast. I love how the images turned out. I was on the carousel with them, riding backwards, and shooting. What a fun adventure ! I got off and was a tad dizzy. There was a lot of laughter and chaos, but it was really great. I hope to shoot there again!

Greyson LOVES dirt. He i literally always dirty. Ive wanted to capture Greyson (my own 4 year old) playing in dirt for a long time. He is such a nature lover. His heart is so big and he loves all insects and animals. He loves collecting bugs and observing them. Im going to miss this stage, where he's so imaginative (He will always be imaginative Im sure) and playful and just enjoys all things nature. Im so glad Im able to capture this time, as we know it goes all to quickly. I bought these super cool Green pants at Mini boden - I love this store! I have been honored to photograph this baby since he was in his mommy's tummy. I adore Lane, he's so fun and sweet and such a chunk! He's growing too quickly. I love this age, they just have such fun manipulating objects (like a wagon or bucket) and they are so into exploring. I love capturing that! My main goal was to capture Lane's boyish adventurous side - I think it worked!

Henry is so precious, just look at this adorable peanut! I am so glad Ive changed my style over to lifestyle journalistic type newborn portraiture. Its so simple and clean. Also, when I was in the studio, my sibling shots failed 90% of the time. I mean, you are asking a toddler, whose entire world has been turned upside down by a new baby, to lie on their back in a strange place with a stranger above them and to hold the little bitty baby everyone has said to be careful with. But when they're in their own home and comfortable, I find it very easy to get these shots. Furthermore, most mommies REALLLLLY want a sibling shot. His big sis rocked hers and we got some shots of just her when baby was otherwise busy.Warmly,

Amos is so adventurous, He's so brave and unafraid. I loved watching him explore! Boys are so fun to photograph, and they all love sticks and rocks and water (and to be naked!)
