Franklin Tennessee Family Photographer | The Bruno Family Film
When Jessica reached out to me, she vocalized her concerns over having a film for her family. She has an older son with autism, and was worried how it would turn out. She felt comforted that I had an early childhood education degree and a bachelor's in developmental psychology and specialized in autism. She knew I could roll with it well.I am so glad she took the chance, because their film is SO amazing. I was so emotional during our shoot because I just felt such a deep love flowing from this child's parents towards their son. I was also able to capture him saying words and I felt like I had hit the lottery when at one point, he made eye contact with me.I had so much fun filming them at their home in Franklin, Tennessee and then riding with them to a nearby creek. Their son LOVED the water and it was so beautiful watching them play together.I pray they cherish this film forever. That their son will be able to watch this later and I pray he can feel what it shows.... their deep love and devotion to he and his brother.Filming families is BEYOND my biggest joy! (Aside from my own children). I would LOVE to chat with you about filming your family!See more films on my instagram!

Nashville Birth Photographer | Should I hire a photographer who doubles as a doula?
I gave birth to my 2nd son in 2012, and had a doula and a midwife at my birth at Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville, TN. I loved them both and could not imagine my birth without them. My doula, made a HUGE difference in my labor pains. In fact, when she left to go to the bathroom, I was so upset she wasn't working on my back because it made such a difference and I had a contraction while she was in there.I also had a filmmaker at my birth and have been obsessed with my birth film since. It is absolutely one of my most treasured possessions. There is no way I could have had one person fill these roles. Each one had their own very complex job that required a lot of brain work and I could not have gone through a contraction without my doula, and therefore, she also could not have been photographing and or videoing my birth for me.Years later, as I have stepped into the role of Birth Videographer and photographer, I have seen sweet well meaning people in the industry of birth, offer both as a package. I have explored this idea for myself and also what my opinion of it was. I have talked to mothers who have had doulas and I have spoken to many birth workers themselves and they all say the same thing... One person cannot do both jobs well. I have also heard from birth workers that they have witnessed these individuals in person and that they were not able to be there for the client as a birth support because they were too busy trying to capture their birth. I have a friend who is both a doula and a birth photographer, she said she offered the combo twice and that "it was terrible" and so she never offered the combination again. She made them hire her for one or the other and then hire another person. You, are the mother. This is YOUR birth. This is your choice. But because it is so important for the birth space and experience, I felt compelled to share my thoughts in a blog. I will never put the ability to book clients because I sold them a package deal to beat my competition or to make my brand look better, over the ability to provide the BEST footage of their birth. My clients come first, not my profits. But also, I do not know the intentions of these sweet meaning people and have no idea why they decided to offer both. My only assumption is to provide a package deal. But if the package deal does not serve the client, then it should not be offered. To learn more about Documenting Birth, click here.

Nashville Newborn Photographer | The Danila Family Film
The Danila Family is OBSESSED with their new baby girl. We had such a beautiful day in Nashville, TN the day we filmed their family for the 2nd time, because the first time, it was too cloudy and we had to reshoot parts. It happens. I would have rescheduled but timing is of the essence with newborns, so I attempted anyway. But it all worked out for the best. Daddy is from Romania, so his accent and olive colored skin made the shoot unique.
I love this film. It is by far my best newborn family film to date. My favorite parts are mom and dad talking to their baby girl, as well as when she is lying on the bed, making precious noises. I hope they can remember her noises and facial expressions and her sweet cry.
If you are interested in something very different from the standard cookie cutter session, let's chat!

Franklin Tennessee Family Photographer | The Roberts Family
THIS FAMILY, ya'll! The last time I had a session with them (Film + Photos)... they BLEW IT OUT THE WATER. Well of course, they rocked this one too. SUCH a beautiful meaningful session.Alan, the father, really wanted to capture his time working on his Jeep with his 3 sons. This Jeep and this time with his boys means a lot to him. and I mean... A LOT. The way Alan interacts with his children brings me to tears. And after 2 sessions, he sings my praises a lot - and that means the world to me!This family centers around all things music. Their film also had video of them dancing and playing guitar. They come alive when they are dancing and singing. It truly is the coolest thing. and I am 100% here for it.

Nashville Family Photographer | The Howard Family Film
The Howard Family, My Annual Tampa Bay, Florida client... I love Sadiee and her family immensely! We always book her shoot in early October, aiming to miss hurricanes. This year, we were not so lucky. The FIRST hurricane arrived the weekend of our shoot, or actually shortly before. This really made all of October a doozy. I have to move clients from another weekend so I could head down to Florida... lesson learned, from now on we will have 2 weekends booked in case of hurricanes. Between last year and this year, Sadiee had a NEW baby! She now has 3 children, 1 girl and 2 boys. She has home birthed her children and was dreading having another 8 lb baby... but instead gave birth to a WHOPPING 12 LB baby boy! ย She says he's basically a toddler. Her film last year can be seen here!It was truly special spending time filming and photographing her family this year. It is fun to escape Nashville for a bit and hit up some beaches while we are down there. A few weeks before her film, her son scraped up his face really badly and 2 nights before their film, their daughter had a fever. So it goes without saying, we were SO grateful this film went off without a hitch, given how many things tried to stop it from happening!Sadiee sell BEAUTIFUL breastmilk jewelry. They are SO amazing and just so lovely!!! She is super talented. See her work on her instagram and her website.

Franklin, Tennessee Family Photographer | The Hartsfield's Family Film
Sometimes, when I write about families, I feel like a broken record. and I Think to myself, How can I say this differently? However, its almost impossible. But every word I write, is more than words to type into a blog or instagram post. The words come straight from my heart. I mean them immensely.
I have been this family's photographer for 5 years. I photographed Lauren and Miles when they were pregnant with their first, Kennedy. I took a hiatus for a small time while figuring out who I was as an artist when I was moving into films. I wrestled with the change and how to go about the change. It was an odd shift emotionally and mentally for me. But when I came back, Lauren was right there ready for more. So many amazing clients rolled with me from doing very posed lifestyle work right into documentary and family films. I think the credit goes to God, but regardless, I am SO grateful. I remember so many moments, wanting to quit and wondering how I would ever book clients when no one even knew to google about family films. (Thus, a miracle from God!) and now, in 2022, I was FULLY booked for 2022 by July 1.
Okay, enough of the rambles. I was HONORED and completely humbled to film this sweet family for the 4th time. I directed Lauren a little on this one. I looked back and saw there weren't films with many giggles, or intimate moments. I asked her to keep it SUPER simple and just focus on connection and sweet moments with her babies. The result was AMAZING.

Nashville, TN Baby & Family Photographer | The Fox Fam
A month or so ago, I was able to film and photograph Erin's birth story of her bringing Adlai into the world. When she booked her birth, so also booked a family session that would follow a few weeks or so after. It was such a beautiful time spending another hour with this little crew. Seeing their new baby with his head full of hair and capturing them in their season of adjusting to life with two kiddos. This family has the most peaceful wonderful presence and energy. I hope they hire me next year for a family film, because I'm pretty bonded!I got to know what life is like for them right now before the session. I wanted to know what moments right now are making Erin's heart flicker. This is how we guide these sessions - which prevents them from being cookie cutter and just like everyone else's session.I wanted to capture their connection to their baby, to one another, and to their older son as well. Tell all of those micro stories, that make up their story that is their family. I never get sick of sessions, because every single one is SO meaningful and filled with real life moments.

Franklin, TN Family Photographer | A Fall Evening with The Hogancamp's
I almost titled this "A Summer evening" because it felt more like summer than Fall. But It was Technically September 18th. It was so fun spending time with some of my favorite people. I have known this family now for 6+ years as they are the owners of my FAVORITE place in town, Herban Market. This place has been such a haven for me, being able to get local goodies and many of my favorite supplements, not to mention their authentic TACOS. If Im nothing else, Im a TACO GIRL through and through.
During Covid, Herban gave us some normalcy. They were considered a grocery store, and while there was a period of time where we couldn't eat inside, we were able to buy supplements, groceries, and get food to go. This place will always hold such a special place in my heart. and it would not be what it is, if The Hogancamp's were not who they are.
Having gone to their store since its opening, I have literally watched their children grow up. Being their photographer is not something I take for granted (honestly, I am grateful for every single client).
Our session began relaxed. Unplanned. The kiddos wanted to swing outside and I love those scenes, because I can capture not only the children in their daily routine and joyful element, but also capture how much joy the parents have pushing their kids on the swing.
After that, we chatted while they worked on dinner. I knew the goal was cooking over a fire out back (something we do at home and LOVE!). Im not talking a grill, I mean cooking meat over a real fire. They had also planned to feed me so I was REALLY winning! We captured how they snuggle in bed reading and then headed out back.
Out back, a lot of spontaneous amazing moments occurred. They worked in the garden, something they often do. And The kids jump roped and rode bikes. Since jumping rope was my MAIN skill as a kid (my only first place ribbon, all the others are participation?) I had to show off my skills. I then showed them what a double under was - something I now do in Crossfit.
I get so excited capturing these real life moments. I see many time stamps... Matt working with wood and fire - that will be a strongly held memory for this family. I see Ashlea with her kids in the garden, another impactful routine that is easy to under estimate. I cannot wait for clients to come back to me in 10 years and have bigger realizations of what I as capturing.
If you want a session like this, you can contact me here.ย
