Franklin, Tennessee Family Photographer | The Bakirtzis Family
Spending an occasional morning filming or photographing families has been one of my greatest honors. I just feel SO at peace capturing them and discovering their story. How they interact, how they show love. What their favorite memories are. All of it makes me immensely happy. I know that I am truly doing what I was called to do. I spent years doing more trendy photography work before I discovered this. There is nothing that a family can do that I am going to judge. I am here to capture your story, whether its a perfectly kept home or a complete mess... whether its organized chaos or sweet daughters who gleefully sit on your laps, I am HERE for it.The Bakirtzis family was such fun to capture. I really hope they hire me for a film in 2023. They just have the sweetest interactions and strong love for one another. (I know I could say that of all my clients, but still... each family is unique and I never tire of it!)Y'all are gonna die over this baby's cuteness ... BTW.Dying to book a session? Contact me here! Nashville, Tennessee Family Photographer | The Martin Family
I got to spend a morning with The Martin Family at their Nashville RV site. This family began full time RVing across the country a few years ago. They homeschool or "roadschool" their two children and get to spend a lot of time together seeing so many cool places! They have such an amazing story to tell from adopting two children, separately, to now being a full time rv family. You can follow their journey over on Instagram. As someone who loves leaving the rat race behind as much as possible ... I was absolutely thrilled when they asked me to film their family. We took our first RV trip out west last summer and I fell in LOVE! I would totally RV full time if my husband's job was remote! It is so freeing. and we already homeschool :)We captured their favorite book that talks about what it was like to adopt these two precious boys. The book was titled "When God Found Us You" . We videoed a lot of laughter and fun with legos. and then they hopped on their gator and rode to the back of their property. It was an absolutely beautiful day for December! (ps. this post contains affiliate links).I really hope you enjoy this very unique family film! Their photos and video both came out beautiful!

Nashville, Tennessee Family Photographer | The Hygge Family
I was blessed to spend a few hours capturing The Hygge Family. The coolest thing about this family is... they changed their last name to match the lifestyle they wished to lead! Hygge is a word in Danish and Norwegian that describes a mood of coziness and "comfortable conviviality" with feelings of wellness and contentment. We practice this in the winter. I have found that when we disengage from cultural expectations that we can be lead to do things that feel more organic and right for us. Our family becomes cozy and snuggly in the winter. We step back from going to all the things and start to be home more. We rest more, play games, and just enjoy less hustle. It's pure bliss. 10/10 Recommend!
The Hygge's were amazing. They have a cozy home they have remodeled on their own. It is simple and cozy which is my favorite! (How many times can I write the word cozy in one blog!)...

I really loved witnessing how they love on their infant son everyday... capturing their real moments and raw motherhood. It was an absolute favorite session! They also have 3 dogs that I was able to get a really good photo of! Check it out:

Franklin Tennessee Newborn Photographer | The Carlson Family
Spending the morning with The Carlson Family was just the BEST! I was able to capture their maternity session not long ago and now I get to photograph them with their precious new baby! They are so completely smitten with her, and you can see why! She is such a beauty. She looks a lot like dad (and his red curls are TO DIE FOR!). I love witnessing this transition in life from couple to parenthood, its so beautiful. I know they will have many sunny day strolls and dinners together, loving on their new baby. I am sure her family will lavish in watching her grow into the beautiful child she will become. Im sure they will sing many songs to her and rock her many nights ... these years are so fleeting. They feel long, but they are just a blip!

Nashville Family Photographer | The Nicholson Family Film
I am unsure if I say this about every family film I create, but this film is so friggen good. Its a favorite - I just love how the song and the story weaves together to tell this romantic soulful story of this family and how they interact regularly. The laughter takes that story and overflows it with love.Their photography and videography session was simple and easy. They simply played together. It was their typical Saturday. What a simple and yet profound gift to have this on video! We had beautiful fall weather in Chattanooga, where they live in Tennessee. The sun was perfect... as you can see.I hope when their girls are grown, they will watch this together occasionally and feel love soar through them. I hope it brings so many memories back for them. And I hope they can sit down with their own children one day and let their children watch their mothers as children.... how cool would that be?It is an honor and an enormous blessing to make these films for families. If you want to book one or get more information, contact me.

Franklin Tennessee Family Photographer | The Bruno Family Film
When Jessica reached out to me, she vocalized her concerns over having a film for her family. She has an older son with autism, and was worried how it would turn out. She felt comforted that I had an early childhood education degree and a bachelor's in developmental psychology and specialized in autism. She knew I could roll with it well.I am so glad she took the chance, because their film is SO amazing. I was so emotional during our shoot because I just felt such a deep love flowing from this child's parents towards their son. I was also able to capture him saying words and I felt like I had hit the lottery when at one point, he made eye contact with me.I had so much fun filming them at their home in Franklin, Tennessee and then riding with them to a nearby creek. Their son LOVED the water and it was so beautiful watching them play together.I pray they cherish this film forever. That their son will be able to watch this later and I pray he can feel what it shows.... their deep love and devotion to he and his brother.Filming families is BEYOND my biggest joy! (Aside from my own children). I would LOVE to chat with you about filming your family!See more films on my instagram!

Nashville Birth Photographer | Should I hire a photographer who doubles as a doula?
I gave birth to my 2nd son in 2012, and had a doula and a midwife at my birth at Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville, TN. I loved them both and could not imagine my birth without them. My doula, made a HUGE difference in my labor pains. In fact, when she left to go to the bathroom, I was so upset she wasn't working on my back because it made such a difference and I had a contraction while she was in there.I also had a filmmaker at my birth and have been obsessed with my birth film since. It is absolutely one of my most treasured possessions. There is no way I could have had one person fill these roles. Each one had their own very complex job that required a lot of brain work and I could not have gone through a contraction without my doula, and therefore, she also could not have been photographing and or videoing my birth for me.Years later, as I have stepped into the role of Birth Videographer and photographer, I have seen sweet well meaning people in the industry of birth, offer both as a package. I have explored this idea for myself and also what my opinion of it was. I have talked to mothers who have had doulas and I have spoken to many birth workers themselves and they all say the same thing... One person cannot do both jobs well. I have also heard from birth workers that they have witnessed these individuals in person and that they were not able to be there for the client as a birth support because they were too busy trying to capture their birth. I have a friend who is both a doula and a birth photographer, she said she offered the combo twice and that "it was terrible" and so she never offered the combination again. She made them hire her for one or the other and then hire another person. You, are the mother. This is YOUR birth. This is your choice. But because it is so important for the birth space and experience, I felt compelled to share my thoughts in a blog. I will never put the ability to book clients because I sold them a package deal to beat my competition or to make my brand look better, over the ability to provide the BEST footage of their birth. My clients come first, not my profits. But also, I do not know the intentions of these sweet meaning people and have no idea why they decided to offer both. My only assumption is to provide a package deal. But if the package deal does not serve the client, then it should not be offered. To learn more about Documenting Birth, click here.

Nashville Newborn Photographer | The Danila Family Film
The Danila Family is OBSESSED with their new baby girl. We had such a beautiful day in Nashville, TN the day we filmed their family for the 2nd time, because the first time, it was too cloudy and we had to reshoot parts. It happens. I would have rescheduled but timing is of the essence with newborns, so I attempted anyway. But it all worked out for the best. Daddy is from Romania, so his accent and olive colored skin made the shoot unique.
I love this film. It is by far my best newborn family film to date. My favorite parts are mom and dad talking to their baby girl, as well as when she is lying on the bed, making precious noises. I hope they can remember her noises and facial expressions and her sweet cry.
