When a momma hires me, my goal is to show them the amazing the amazing mother they are. I know many mothers (including me) are filled with self doubt.
Will I be enough for the human I love more than anything on this planet? How could I ever be enough? When nothing will ever be what my child deserves?
Momma. You are enough. Even with the flaws and mistakes we make, we are enough. Because we were chosen. Chosen to be their mother. And that in and of itself means you are enough.
Breathe it in. And say. I am enough. Because I choose love.
In 2022, our society has taught us to focus on the now. The immediate needs and wants. Social media has taught us to care about what we can share, what’s “sexy” according to Instagram. We as a society care less about what we will want or need a decade or two from now.
But I have chosen to listen closely to what people who are older than me say. They all say the same things.
Your “stuff” won’t matter. That Pinterest worthy kitchen, wont matter. Your $75K car, wont matter. What will you miss?
You will wish you were less busy. You will want more time. You will want to revisit the good ole days (PS, you’re in them right now).
I encourage you to live for your future self. Imagine being 65. Will you have stories to tell and share (in person, I dont mean share on social media). Will you have spent enough time with your loved ones.
Even the homeschool parents who have graduated kids tell me “I wish I had done less” - they spent years cramming academics into their kids and later realize it was not only unnecessary but it took away precious time.
Spend more time together, and capture those stories. The stories of your dinner times, your prayers, family game night, baking with your kids on Sunday. Whatever your story is, its worth telling.
I hear it often:
I want a family film but I think I should wait for ….
When I lose the weight…
When my house is renovated…
When my next baby comes….
When my child is a little older….
When we move to our new home….
When the weather is warmer…
When the leaves have fallen….
The thing is… it is already later than you think. And if you are always waiting for life to be more perfect than it is right now, then you’re missing the NOW.
It is already later than you think.
Our culture seems to be moving further and further away from a culture that supports and encourages moms in their mothering.
We normalize complaining about our children and our husbands. We normalize needing wine as a coping mechanism. We normalize unsuccessfully nursing. We normalize sending our infants and children off to institutions to be raised. We normalize making moms feel less than unless they’re running a household, raising children, having a successful career, all while maintaining sexiness. She isn’t enough unless she can do all the things without fail. Which is actually unsustainable. No wonder women don’t think they can homeschool.
I used to be that mom but I’m here to say it’s all lies. You can do less and be more worthy. You can have mechanisms that even when you’re in the busiest season, you’re happier and calmer than ever rather than exhausted and yelling. But we don’t help moms gain those skills. We just say “yeah girl I need wine too” instead of why are we so stressed and how do we find our happy?
Franklin, Tennessee Newborn Photographer | Benjamin
Sweet Benjamin arrived earthside in his home on a gorgeous October day. Im so happy his momma had her home birth. While I was not there to capture her home birth, we did have a newborn photo and video session lined up.

I loved spending a few hours with these two. Back in September, I captured Rachel's Maternity Session. I have fallen in love with Rachel as a person, as a pregnant mother and now a mother of a newborn. Her heart is pure and her love is deep for Benjamin. She's a single momma determined to give Benjamin everything she can. She has an amazing support system and has a miracle job that has allowed her to work and be with her baby.
We are all praying for Rachel and Benjamin on the daily. That they have a peaceful first year together, filled with love and low stress. We see how bonded these two are and all of us are surrounding Rachel to help support her bond and needs as they come up. Im so happy breastfeeding has gone well too (despite a tie revision).
Im excited to see Rachel and Benjamin have their first Christmas together as mother and son. He has already grown so much and I cant wait to watch him grow even more over the next year. Reach out to me to get your family photographed.

This family welcomed their second baby boy this summer. Its been a summer of boys! I ADORE this sweet crew - they are so unique in their view of photography and films - they just crave that intimate genuine moment, they have photos EVERYWHERE in their home - even the bathrooms! They are my favorite clients ever (I love all of them hahaha). Let's check out their film first:

They are the happiest, calmest, sweetest parents. They were so gentle while their older son acted like a typical toddler ;)
We had a fun morning together. Capturing all those sweet moments that will be gone in the blink of an eye.
For this family film and photos session, we started out with snuggles on the bed. We paused for breastfeeding as needed, read books to the sweet toddler. and then headed outside. Outside, they played a game and laughed. It was so fun watching them be a family in this moment in their lives and filming / videoing that - so they can watch it for years to come.
I cant wait to see Landon at 6 & 12 months old - to see how he's changed and how big he is. How he looks at his mommy, daddy, and big brother, and how they look at him.
My boys are 10 & 7. And let me tell you, it is absolute heartache watching them lose their "little"

I recently photographed this family, welcoming their second boy into the world. I captured some of their typical day right now, in the rough part of life; adjusting to two kids.
I watched Mallory and her family adjust to the new baby as the oldest was seeking attention - as he goes from being the only child to sharing his parents.
I remember this time when I welcomed my second son into my life. So I could relate on a deep level. It was the saddest and happiest days of my life. My oldest felt confused about how much I loved him and I also wanted to soak up the time with my newest baby.
When I arrived, as is common, the house was a tad chaotic. Momma was flustered, older brother was acting out of sorts. The baby was probably crying or nursing. And Dad was just trying to keep things from falling apart.
But if you hire a professional photographer, you don't realize you're getting more than someone who can take photos and make a video. You're getting a doula, friend, and comforter - all in one. Mallory even said at one point "you have such a calm about you"
See, when I saw mom flustered. I simply said it was fine. and not to worry. and that all would calm down. and so it did. When they realize that just because family members are not 100%, that the session would not fail as a result. most of the time, that settles things down.
I loved capturing this for this family. Photographing and filming families and newborn babies.

I really have the best job - baby and family photographer - living in Nashville and Franklin - I just cannot get enough. This family - working with them since they were pregnant with their first daughter - its all been the absolute best feeling capturing them as a family as they have transformed into what they exist as today. What draws me into my photography work - the art behind it - is motherhood - even parenthood. I see my clients through my lens as a mother. I see daddy with his baby or child and I look at that intimate moment as a mother myself. As a mother who sees her own husband bond with our children - and it allows me to capture this deep connection - which also comes from bonding with the family, telling their own unique story as well.
When I see the sweet baby sitting there, I think of my two boys - who are 7 &10 - and I cherish the facial expressions, the tiny hands holding onto one another, the grump faces, the chunky baby rolls and sweet look of awe in their little faces.... I see who my children used to be and who this child is - and it allows me to capture this child in all of her adorableness and her own sweet personality as she exists today. Because we know she will grow, and change. and that change will bring good and bad. Its sad watching them grow, but also exciting and new and fun. Watching your child grow up is like watching them slowly leave your heart. Yes, mommies and their babies will always be close. But that closeness changes. and it does sting, just a little.

Sometimes in my job I get the most perfect scenario. Not only do I get to capture the stage of life that is one of the most pivotal in our lifetime, but I also am blessed to capture people I have deeply connected with. Ashlea and Matt, owners of Herban Market in Franklin, TN have become good friends of mine. I have been a crunch mom for 8 years - before it was cool to be one - Haha! Their little store has become a haven for me and my family. Before they opened, we could only get the quality of food we eat at the Franklin Farmer's Market. But now, if we run out between Saturday's, we can go to Herban and grab eggs or local meat, any local vegetable etc. The best part is, its small and not large like a walmart or whole foods. So, its convenient to run in really quick and grab something. I am Keto and my family is Keto/Paleo (we go back and forth) and so we don't have many restaurants in the area to eat at. Even when we find something really great, they almost always fry in soy/canola oil and thats a big fat no for me and my family. We don't even feel well on this one item alone. I know that I can go into herban for a round of tacos, or a great huge amazing salad. The entire story is GMO Free, all organic, mostly local, soy free - they filter out the bad for you. They have truly given my family the most amazing gift - convenience in a natural lifestyle - which is hard to come by.Times are for sure changing. And even better, Herban Market is EXPANDING to more than double their current space. They will have a full restaurant and I CANNOT WAIT.I suppose I should get back to my original point....I was SO blessed to capture someone I have this deep personal relationship with. Baby Owen is so loved. His family loves to read to him and rock. They play on the floor and watch their little baby grow daily. This first year always goes by too quickly. Its made up of hard times and happy times, and these little bitty special moments - flashes of time - in between. As the baby becomes more mobile, its almost like time goes exponentially faster. I love capturing this sweet calm between the chaos for families.

Ashton turned one. Im so sad, because I just ADORE this family. Im sure I will see them each year, but still..... not seeing them every 3 months will be sad. Ashton is adorable as ever. He really performed for his photos and film this session. We had such fun and his personality really came through! The weather was perfect. It truly was one of those perfect days and sessions. Nashville Baby Photographer | Lealand's 12 Month Session
Lealand is one. Even as the photographer, I cannot believe how fast the first year goes. You just NEVER ever get it back. Even if its a really hard year, its a very important year that has the most dependence. The baby moments are so far and few between. They only snuggle for such a short time. They grow up and leave. I want Moms to remember their personality that first year, how they loved to eat dirt and hated touching grass. How they made this certain face when they were displeased.
Lealand has a very big voice and lots of opinions, and she in only ONE y'all. ONE. 13 year old Lealand should be interesting. I had fun capturing this time and cant wait to watch her grow into a spunky willful lady!

Bennett is always such joy to photograph. He is ONE and walking and running! I was definitely chasing him! HA! I love this stage of partial independence and still many moments of snuggles and nursing. You just never get this back. Its such a short time in life! This family is such joy and so happy. Miles loved the water at the creek, for his 6 month session. It was really beautiful. We had the most amazing sunset. The warm tones and pink hues of this session truly make me happy. Nashville Baby Photographer | Kennedy's 6 Month Session
Kennedy's first year is flying by y'all! Seems like just yesterday I was photographing her Momma's Maternity Session. It was by far one of my favorite maternity shoots. We have photographed Kennedy Every 3 months since birth and each and every session has been equally glorious. However, it was nice to finally get outside for her photos. At the beginning of the session, something happened that, surprisingly, has never happened at a session! We were walking to our first starting place, getting ready to start with Family Photos. When the baby pooped all over momma! It was SUCH a mess, and no, she did not have a back up outfit! But my favorite part was how she rolled with it. She cleaned it with some baby wipes and waited for it to dry, photographing Kennedy during this time. It dried in no time, thanks to the summer heat ;) and we were strategic with posing! I love when my clients roll with the punches, because 9 times out of 10, something will happen when it comes to photographing babies. Its just the way it is! But how we respond makes all the difference!

Magnolia, and those CURLS. Man she tugs at my heart strings! We had a blast capturing her, mostly nursing for her session. She is so full of spunk and joy! She has the most adorable round face. and blue eyes. Our weather was spectacular for Nashville in August! Better yet, her momma has a boutique in Magnolia's name. it's called Magnolia Jaymes
I try to do very little posing during sessions. I love shooting more natural lifestyle portraiture or even full on documentary. I love capturing raw unposed emotions. and making people cry :)

Baby Stella is just beautiful! She is all smiles and sweetness. The light was so perfect this night. and her big brother gets the best sibling award! He was so good for his sibling photo. There may or may not have been organic gummies offered ;)
The weather was yet again, very mild for summer. We still end up sweating, but not quite drenched. HA. We have fun chatting and playing the whole time! Sessions are always fun!

Ingram is ONE. I mean, they just grow so incredibly fast. The fussy days, the teething, and sleepless nights, just go by so fast. I love this time of year, when I have baby chicks at my house. Being able to use them for a few shoots is nice. He loved them and was very curious. I love watching babies analyze their surroundings, and take it all in.
