Nashville, Tennessee Baby Photographer | Emmett
Baby Emmett was another Valentines' Day Baby! I had two babies, both boys, born on Valentines' day this year! I just adore the images we got of him. My faves are on the couch, of the Momma and her two babies, of his big sister holding him so sweetly. And the whole family! Just too sweet for words!

Penelope Jane and her parents are so photogenic. They just glow and radiate pure love! I just adore being apart of this huge phase of clients' lives. Its such a journey, becoming a parent and I get the pleasure of seeing them before the baby arrives at their maternity session and then now I will get to watch sweet PJ grow this year! My heart literally swells with each client who chooses ME as their photographer. There is no greater honor!

Nashville Baby Photographer | Ashton's Nursing Story
So many women these days struggle with nursing. Its grown ten fold over the past five years. Babies are born with lip ties and tongue ties, thanks to epigenetics and genetic mutations passed down each generation. I asked Ashton to share her story of nursing pain, mastitis, lip tie, tongue tie, baby's weight issues and more.
"Leland and I have had a trying time with nursing since we came home from the hospital. Many tears have been shed between he and I during this process. I thought it was going to be easy, because it's supposed to be a natural thing between mother and child, but I quickly learned that's not the case for everyone. There are many factors that come into play with a good latch and unfortunately these weren't working in our favor. After a few days of trying on our own, we decided to have a lactation consultant come to our home, in hopes that we would find the guidance we needed to help us along in the right direction. During our appointment we found out that Leland was lip and tongue tied. It explained everything we had been through. It was the reason I was in so much pain, the reason I ended up with mastitis, and the reason he wasn't gaining as much weight as he needed to. Leaving myself, my husband, and Leland very frustrated.Recently, Leland had a lip and tongue tie revision. It completely broke our hearts to take him in to have the procedure done, but it was also completely necessary in order for him to be able to nurse properly. We're continuing to do the appropriate stretches with his lip and tongue, so that they don't reattach. The last thing we want is for him to need another revision. He doesn't like the stretches, but he really has been a trooper through it all. With all of that being said, it is likely that my MTHFR gene mutations are the reason for Leland's ties, and/or the reason he may have MTHFR gene mutations, causing the ties. My experience thus far with learning about my MTHFR gene mutations, is that it has affected my body in many ways, including my journey with endometriosis and getting pregnant. The MTHFR mutations cause impaired methylation and detoxification. Sounds simple, but it's really so much more complicated than I ever imagined. I encourage you to look into all that it entails.I would also advise everyone to be tested for these mutations, because it truly affects so many bodily functions. For me this includes getting pregnant, being pregnant, the health of my child, and even my ability to have a natural nursing experience. It is important to be aware of the possible genes you may have so that you can take the appropriate steps before, during, and after pregnancy. Learning about genes and their interaction with the environment has helped me better understand my own health and how to make sure my baby is as healthy as possible.Once Leland's old enough, he will be tested for the mutations, as well. Until then, we are treating him as if he does have the mutations. It's better to be safe than sorry. In the meantime we will continue to work hard at nursing, because it's something that's really important to me. I would be lying if I said this has been an easy journey so far, but I do know that it is all worth it, for my sweet boy."
Nashville Baby Photographer | Leland's Newborn Session
Leland and I have become fast friends. I love his parents and his session was easy and laid back. It was a beautiful almost-spring day, the day of his session. He was such a great sleeper and let me get lots of great shots. I love doing these in-home lifestyle sessions and capturing babies naturally, its such a fun artistic experience for me. Isn't he just the cutest?

Nashville, Tennessee Baby Photographer |Welcome to the world, Leland!
New this year, Im offering Fresh 48 sessions, but only to my first year clients :) What is a fresh48? Where I go to the hospital within 48 hours of baby's birth and photograph your baby and family members for about 30 minutes. I love these, because, as a mommy, I know that these will trigger memories for a new mom later on. They will remind of her of the smells and the visuals of the day the baby was born. Its such a precious time and many times, mommies have some meds in their bodies that may even effect remembering this huge event later. So, its amazing to capture this new-ness and have it to look back on. Again, with the Heirloom of my job, I believe in prints and passing on physical pictures to our younger generations. These are so fun to shoot, too!Warmly,
Nashville Newborn Photographer | Lifestyle Baby Session
There is nothing better than being asked to photograph a family's child multiple times. A few years ago, I photographed their other daughter, Evelyn. And Now, I am photographing their 3rd child and 2 daughter, Maren. Im loving doing this new style of in-home newborn sessions. Maren wasn't really interested in sleeping, so it was fun capturing some of those awake moments ย :)

Nashville Newborn Baby Photographer | Big Announcement
I first met Kellie a few years ago, when she came to me for mentoring. It was love at first, sight. She is HYSTERICAL. and has the warmest heart of anyone I have ever known. She and I connected because we both just really love babies. Since then, we have visited and spent time together, despite her living in Memphis. A few months ago, I finalized my choice to step back from my business, the newborn part anyway, and do less where newborns are concerned (because Im homeschooling). My focus in life has changed a lot and I had to adapt my priorities to our new chapter in parenthood. A few months ago, I kept saying she should move here and work for me and pose newborns! All she wants to do is pose newborns. She has no interest in running a full business. I was half joking but secretly wishing it would come true. And dare I say, it has! She and her hubby have decided to relocate to Nashville and My sweet Kellie will be working for me.So, what will this look like? If anything, clients will get me even more! Maybe not for newborn, but because Kellie can photograph more newborns than I can, it will allow me to still photograph clients' maternity and first year sessions! Her style is representative of mine, Organic, simplistic, sweet and simple! You'll love her and our team will work hard for the CLIENT! xoxoWithout further ado, meet Kellie. The newest team member of JPP! Below are a few examples of the work she will offer our clients :)
