Documentary Photography is a style in which Im pretty much a fly on the wall. I capture the family's REAL life, their life as it is at this very moment. These are the images that will make someone cry. They capture the essence of a family and their connection. This family was full of really great connection and moments. I truly had a blast. Their baby is about 6 months old and he is crawling and happy. I hope to capture more families in their homes. Its so special.

Nashville Baby Photographer | Lealand's 12 Month Session
Lealand is one. Even as the photographer, I cannot believe how fast the first year goes. You just NEVER ever get it back. Even if its a really hard year, its a very important year that has the most dependence. The baby moments are so far and few between. They only snuggle for such a short time. They grow up and leave. I want Moms to remember their personality that first year, how they loved to eat dirt and hated touching grass. How they made this certain face when they were displeased.
Lealand has a very big voice and lots of opinions, and she in only ONE y'all. ONE. 13 year old Lealand should be interesting. I had fun capturing this time and cant wait to watch her grow into a spunky willful lady!

Bennett is always such joy to photograph. He is ONE and walking and running! I was definitely chasing him! HA! I love this stage of partial independence and still many moments of snuggles and nursing. You just never get this back. Its such a short time in life! This family is such joy and so happy. I love capturing their intense love for B. Truly, an honor.

Nashville Baby Photographer | Liam, 8 Days Old
When clients look back on their images, years from now, I want them to be sucked back into that time period. The first weeks are so overwhelming. Mommy and Daddy are flooded with emotions from all angles, new struggles, and new responsibility - all while potentially getting very little sleep. Therefore, I believe this time should be truly documented. Im slowly evolving into a more documentary style approach in my work - wanting to draw out more emotion, raw - real life. I want them to remember the shift in emotions between mom and dad. Nashville Baby Photographer | Miles' 6 Month Session + Film
Miles loved the water at the creek, for his 6 month session. It was really beautiful. We had the most amazing sunset. The warm tones and pink hues of this session truly make me happy. Miles was a little tired for his session, but we managed to keep him happy! I love his sweet angelic face, and those baby blue eyes!

Nashville Baby Photographer | Kennedy's 6 Month Session
Kennedy's first year is flying by y'all! Seems like just yesterday I was photographing her Momma's Maternity Session. It was by far one of my favorite maternity shoots. We have photographed Kennedy Every 3 months since birth and each and every session has been equally glorious. However, it was nice to finally get outside for her photos. At the beginning of the session, something happened that, surprisingly, has never happened at a session! We were walking to our first starting place, getting ready to start with Family Photos. When the baby pooped all over momma! It was SUCH a mess, and no, she did not have a back up outfit! But my favorite part was how she rolled with it. She cleaned it with some baby wipes and waited for it to dry, photographing Kennedy during this time. It dried in no time, thanks to the summer heat ;) and we were strategic with posing! I love when my clients roll with the punches, because 9 times out of 10, something will happen when it comes to photographing babies. Its just the way it is! But how we respond makes all the difference!

Nashville Child Photographer | Quill's 3 Year Old Garden Shoot
Quill is 3! I remember photographing her back when I had a newborn portrait studio in Nashville. Quill is all spunk and was born on the bathroom floor by accident. She will make an amazing female adult, but in the meantime, makes for a fun child to parent ;) she is my best friend's daughter and we wanted to capture her in her true form. Quill loves her chickens and garden. She and her momma garden together almost daily on their homestead. This day was SO incredibly hot, the most I had sweat all summer. But it was a blast chasing Quilly Loo around!

Magnolia, and those CURLS. Man she tugs at my heart strings! We had a blast capturing her, mostly nursing for her session. She is so full of spunk and joy! She has the most adorable round face. and blue eyes. Our weather was spectacular for Nashville in August! Better yet, her momma has a boutique in Magnolia's name. it's called Magnolia Jaymes
I try to do very little posing during sessions. I love shooting more natural lifestyle portraiture or even full on documentary. I love capturing raw unposed emotions. and making people cry :)
