A Day in the Life with The Osegard Family | Nashville Family Photographer & Videographer

Last November, I spent a few hours with The Osegard Family. They live in West Nashville in an adorable townhome. They spent the whole session in their living room, just being with their 4 kids. A typical Saturday at home together. Reading books, drawing, putting puzzles together, playing games. Nothing overly spectacular or really all that different from most families.

Dad read to the kiddos, mom nursed the baby, the kids ran around, peek a boo happened… it was glorious. Their kids laugh a lot. They’re so filled with joy - the whole family!

I wanted to tell the story of how simple and joyful their life is. They love being together. Alyssa (mom) was newly postpartum. They didn’t do extraordinary things to make the film β€œinteresting” … it was interesting and amazing just capturing their real lives. There is magic in the simplest things we do with our kids. Reading a book is magical. The way the parent makes certain sounds or the facial expressions of the kids listening to their mom or dad reading that story. A story he has probably read to them a hundred times. and now that book being read by him is something they can relive for the rest of their lives.

Alyssa and her 2 year old play a game of β€œwhere is she?” Where Lucy hides her face behind her hands and mom’s says β€œwhere did she go?” and it’s the funniest most human moment between a mother and her toddler. Mom will get to relive this for years to come and Lucy will grow up reliving a moment she wouldn’t have otherwise remembered.

The kids watched their film over and over the whole day after they received it. They saw them hug one another in the film and their parents love them. Just imagine what this does psychologically? (I have a degree in psych) and I can tell you… it solidifies the deep sense of being loved and cared for. That mom and dad spent time with them. This will solidify in their mind the deep sense of belonging and family and love they are experiencing. On hard days, they can watch this film and be reminded of all of that.

That’s why I do this for my clients. I want them to have that for themselves and for their kids. If you want your family filmed, I would LOVE to work with you!
