Nashville Family Photography | The Kinney Extended Family
A few years ago, a sweet family hired me to capture their newborn - their first baby. It was such a sweet session. A year or so later, they hired me again to film and photograph their family with their toddler. I think this film has become so precious to them because in 2025, nearing the end of their 2nd pregnancy, the Dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. He had surgery and is doing well, considering.
So when a relative reached out to me for extended family photos - something I never do - I immediately said YES.
They were having their Thanksgiving in Nashville instead of back home in another state, because of the brain surgery and all of the stress load that came with that (which happened within days of their 2nd daughter’s birth).
Now, when I do extended family photos, I REALLY want them to have an authentic feel. There is nothing worse than stiff posed extended family photos. So we came up with a few activities for them to do together that would naturally spark joy. We captured some posed ones too, because those are valuable and it makes sure to get everyone in the same frame.
One of our main ideas, was for the grandmother/mother of all of the kids and their kids, to bring photo albums from the past for everyone to look through and talk about. I love capturing the genuine smiles of everyone and how they look at one another.
Maybe you are looking to have your family captured! Please holler at me here.
